Drain Cleaning & Hydro Jetting on Long Island, Explained
Kitchen drains: it is grease, and it is fixable
Kitchen lines clog because fats go down warm and set up hard fifteen feet out where the pipe gets cold. A cable bores a hole through that and buys you a few months. Hydro jetting cuts the whole deposit off the pipe wall and gives you back the full diameter.
If your kitchen sink has backed up twice in a year, stop paying for cabling. Jet it once and you are usually good for years.
Main line backups and tree roots
The mature oaks and maples that make Garden City and Northport beautiful are also a standing threat to clay and cast-iron sewer laterals. Roots find a hairline crack or a loose joint, get in for the water, and then grow into a mat that catches everything.
We cut them out with a root-cutting head and then camera the line to grade the damage. Sometimes the answer is an annual cutting. Sometimes the joint is gone and you are better served by a spot repair or a liner — and we will tell you which, with footage to back it up.
What not to put down the drain
Two things cause most of the emergency calls we run. The first is cooking grease. The second is anything sold as a flushable wipe — they do not break down, they catch on every imperfection in the pipe, and they are the single most common cause of a full main-line blockage we pull.
Coffee grounds, rice, pasta and eggshells belong in the bin rather than the disposal. A disposal is a grinder, not a garbage chute, and the line downstream of it is only four inches wide.
Chemical drain cleaner: please do not
Store-bought drain chemicals rarely clear a real clog. What they do is sit against your pipe generating heat, which softens PVC joints and eats the remaining wall of old cast iron. Then we arrive and have to work in a line full of caustic liquid.
If you have already poured some in, that is fine — just tell us when we get there so we can protect ourselves properly.

Good questions
Drain Cleaning & Hydro Jetting: What People Ask Us.
Why does my drain keep clogging after it is snaked?
A cable clears a channel through the blockage rather than the blockage itself. If a line clogs repeatedly, hydro jetting scours the pipe wall back to full diameter and usually ends the cycle.
Do you camera the line?
On every main-line clearing, at no extra charge. You see the footage, and we tell you whether you have a clean pipe with a grease problem or a pipe with a structural fault.
